The Springfield College

Senior School - Years 10 to 12

The young adults of the Senior School are a key part of the College community and are encouraged to fulfil their potential in a responsible manner. The value of our tailored program for seniors was evident in the academic results of the Class of 2005 where 100% of those who applied for tertiary studies were successful in first-round offers and where exceptional OP results were attained. Students from The Springfield College have achieved well in national Mathematics and Science Competitions and have been accepted as members of the University of Queensland Physics Department’s Quasar Club for students from the top ten schools in South East Queensland in this field.

The Senior School curriculum for Years 10 to 12 has been designed to prepare your child for life after school, whether they choose to move on to tertiary study or enter the workforce. Year 10 students have the opportunity to choose from a range of subjects which reflect the courses they are considering for Years 11 and 12, giving them a greater background in some areas and a firmer idea of their path of study. Students are supported in undertaking University level subjects, or School based traineeships or apprenticeships.

The important role of technology is recognized by integrating it into all subject areas, with continued emphasis on English, Mathematics, Science, Mandarin Chinese and the Humanities. There is a wide choice of practical and creative subjects, catering for the wide variety of students’ needs and interests.

A vertical pastoral care program based on the four College Clans provides peer support for younger students while at the same time providing important leadership roles for older students.
