The Private Tuition program offers students technical training and performance opportunities in the arts, allowing them to develop and enhance their practical abilities, bringing them enjoyment and maximising their long-term opportunities in their chosen art form.
Students enrolled at The Springfield College receive weekly class lessons in Instrumental Music, Speech and Drama and Dance. These lessons are given by specialist teachers trained to deliver a practical classroom program. Through these lessons students gain appreciation of the history of the various art forms as well as learn the technical skills required to develop their practical abilities in Music, Drama and Dance.
The Private Tuition Program in Music and Speech and Drama provides additional individual instruction by carefully-selected, highly-trained and experienced teachers, with a background in professional performance.
Currently, the Private Tuition Program offers after-school tuition in Speech and Drama and Instrumental and Vocal Music. A Highland Dancing program is also offered and has become one of the most popular courses.
This after-school program is most suitable for students who wish to be extended beyond what is possible in a group situation, who have aspirations to compete in eisteddfod and other competitions, or who have ambitions to prepare for public examinations or to study the arts at a tertiary level.
Music students can be prepared for practical and theory or musicianship examinations conducted by either the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) or Trinity College London (TCL). An instrument hire facility also operates for students wishing to hire their instrument on a hire/try or hire/buy basis.
Speech and Drama students have recorded excellent examination results. A Trinity College London examination sitting is held every June at the College. This enables students to sit for examinations in Effective Communication, Speech and Drama or Musical Theatre.
Through the Private Tuition Program, we aim to further enhance the range of opportunities available to students, thereby maximising their long term prospects and leading ultimately to the fulfilment of their potential.
